On those dates in 1775, the Revolutionary War began when British soldiers marched to Lexington and Concord to seize the leaders of the Sons of Liberty, John Hancock and Samuel Adams, along with guns and gunpowder.
Heeding Revere’s and other messengers' warnings, dozens of men grabbed their guns and rushed to defend these two towns. These militia men were called minutemen because they had trained to be ready to protect their homes and towns at a moment’s notice. The first shots of the Revolutionary War were fired in the standoff between the minutemen and British soldiers at Lexington.
I’ve recorded two videos for you, one is about Paul Revere and the other is about Peter Salem. Enjoy!
