In the 1976 presidential election, Jimmy Carter conveyed the image of an "everyman,” an average Joe, or in this case, an average “Jim.”

President Carter made presidential history in both his birth and death. He was the first US president born in a hospital, and he's the only US president to reach the age of 100, the age of his death on December 29, 2024. Carter and his wife were ahead of their time on the issue of race relations. They supported integrating their church in Georgia in the 1950s and 1960s.
