Memorial Day: Remembering Nathan Hale
Happy Memorial Day! In this video, I share about a Revolutionary War soldier who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
Nathan Hale is famous for his final words: “I regret that I have but one life to give for my country.” This is a quote from the play CATO. Some have questioned whether he said this. But once you know more about him and classical education, then his final words make more sense.
Nathan Hale is one the three main characters in my new book, The Submarine and the Spies. Hale became a spy for George Washington. More than 6,800 soldiers died in battle and another 17,000 died of disease during the American Revolution.
