The Best Christmas Pageant Ever in Theaters this Weekend
Help make this new movie an annual Christmas classic
A few weeks ago at the International Christian Video and Media conference, I had the opportunity to attend a screening of the new movie, THE BEST CHRISTMAS PAGEANT EVER. This movie hits theaters on Friday, November 8, and is worth your time. We plan to take our 11-year-old son on Saturday to see the movie.
THE BEST CHRISTMAS PAGEANT EVER delivers a traditional nostalgic Christmas story--showcasing that the Christian message of Jesus's birth is for everyone, even misfit kids who don't know the story about the baby in the manger but are longing for love and acceptance behind their tough, poverty-stricken exterior.
The director of the movie, Dallas Jenkins, known for THE CHOSEN, chased the film rights to this story for 20 years and prayed weekly for the opportunity to bring it to life in film. He shared his journey in this podcast by Kingdom Story Company.
I have vague memories of reading the book as a child. But the story came rushing back as I watched the naughty Herdman kids as they suddenly decide they want to play Mary, Joseph and the angel in the community’s beloved annual Christmas Pageant.
Jenkins and the makers of THE BEST CHRISTMAS PAGEANT EVER want it to become an instant Christmas classic, wrapped in the aura of a Norman Rockwell painting unwrapped year after year by viewers every December. Jenkins purposefully styled the look of the film to be timeless, not be tied to a particular decade or era.
